GRM responded to the oil tanker explosion in Freetown, November 2021 that resulted in more than 400 casualties. In conjunction with Temple University, the Health Ministry of Sierra Leone, and the UN Development Program, GRM sent a specialty burn team consisting of burn surgeons, Critical Care physicians, Critical Care/Burn nurses, and physiotherapists for a five-week operation to assist local staff in providing care for burn patients.
